Vacaturebeschrijving

Corporate Technology (part of Group Services) is working together with business in the EC&A (Enterprise Content & Automation) Tribe. We need a leader that takes ownership of the Tech part in one of our EC&A product areas.

Banking has changed dramatically over the past years. With ING's "Making the Difference" Strategy and Vision "Sustainability for all", we are creating a differentiating customer experience and leverage on global capabilities. Within EC&A Customer Communication, Records Management, Intelligent Automation and Content Sharing are key technology areas to enable ING in this strategy.

We are building state-of-the-art solutions with self-service capabilities to enable our strategic ambitions. Challenging projects based on common technologies and a diversity of COTS products are needed to deliver integrated but also modular customer solutions. From an engineering perspective not only the engineering side like code development, deployment pipelines and automated testing are important but also knowledge about the COTS products itself and the operational maintenance of it. For our IT Area of Records Management we have the intent to productize our capabilities to the rest of ING and execute on Simplify programs. We deliver separate microservices but also integrated solutions and make sure the customer receives the same experience from every channel for every country.

Do you want to make an impact, move forward and join the coolest area of ING? Do you want to be the storm rather than sitting idle in the eye or being blown away by it? Then read on!

Your job

As a Chapter Lead, you are responsible for managing and inspiring a chapter of ~15 engineers. Your main task consists of two things:

Taking ownership as an engineering lead in the trinity together with the Productlead and Architecture lead for the delivery within your product area of Decom As A Service, Retention Management and the NL Archiving solution. Enable your engineers to grow their mastery and get better in what they do every day.

You set the example, share your knowledge, drive innovation, voice your opinion and also deliver as a squad member. What you build is also what you operate! You will see your own code work in production and will solve any issue arising with it together with your team (eat your own dogfood).

Your activities start at analysis and end at operations. As such you are also a true DevOps engineer!

It is also possible that you work on special assignments that are important for our tribe.

Next to that, you are part of our leadership team of our IT Area Records Management. Together with the other Chapter Leads and the IT area lead we develop our vision and execute our strategy to inspire our engineers to grow and drive technological innovation. We don't do that on our own, but we do this together with our business colleagues!

Managing your chapter means actively working on the development of your engineers through continuous on-the-job coaching and 1:1 conversation. Creating a development plan and monitoring it together. Finding the true purpose of your engineers and enabling them to grow in what they love to do and are good at to find that win-win situation for the engineer and ING.

Your work environment

ING works in multi-disciplinary teams based on Agile and DevOps principles.

ING adopted a model where you work in teams that consists of IT engineers (DevOps) and Customer Journey experts. We also are working more and more with platform teams and are introducing Team Topology best practices. You work in your squad but are also part of a chapter, an expertise focused group that shares knowledge and creates and governs standards.

Who are you?

  • You love to inspire other people to grow and take ownership

  • You are a motivated engineer who likes to work in a team on complex solutions.

  • Although you are an experienced engineer, you continuously want to grow your personal skills as an engineer and as a leader.

  • You have a mentality that aligns with our culture where you 'Take it on and make it happen'. You naturally behave towards our Orange Behaviour values.

  • You are an engineer that gives other engineers a lot of energy!

You recognize yourself in the following profile:
