JOB PURPOSE
The Collaborative Manufacturing (CM) network in Nutrition is the largest across Unilever, with over 100 active CMs in Europe and exceeding 250 CMs at global level. The wide range of products and technologies in scope means that we need to operate across a diverse landscape to maintain products that are safe for our consumers, legally compliant and provide the right level of quality to delight our end users.
The Europe Quality Specialist focusses on implementing, executing, improving, and providing technical quality support to 3rd Party Collaborative Manufacturers (CMs) and our Merger & Acquisition businesses, along with the Collaborative Manufacturing Operations Team (CMO), Technical Innovation Management Teams and CCBTs (Country Category Business Teams) in Europe for Quality Management System (QMS) compliance, innovation execution, quality risk management and quality improvement. The role can also incorporate cooperation with other BU’s / Categories.
It is a key role in supporting mitigation and management of UL Corporate Operational Risk (Design and production of products that meet our environmental, consumer safety and quality standards).
JOB SUMMARY
- Supports and drives Unilever Quality strategy, governance and goals through European specific projects and targets.
- Verifies that Collaborative Manufacturing Partners (& Merger & Acquisition) can meet Unilever Quality standards by working with CMO teams to support technical capability assessments and closure of gaps identified in vetting / SQA (Supplier Quality Approval)
- Ensures and verifies ongoing compliance to Unilever Quality Management standards in Collaborative Manufacturing Partners through KPI monitoring and non-conformance monitoring, intensive care, audits, and technical visits (as needed) and general oversight.
- Supports Cluster-specific quality improvement initiatives with Procurement and CMO (Collaborative Manufacturing Operation team) where applicable.
- Supports changes to existing and new External Manufacturing Partners through activities that assure quality/hygienic control processes are in place and operating efficiently. This may include site visits, audits, driving Unilever GMP requirements, tracking CM performance (with CMO), engaging with external agencies / consultants to deliver CM development & improvement programs.
- Support communication and training strategy and execution with Collaborative Manufacturing Partners.
- Leads or supports quality and/or consumer safety training for CMO (where applicable) and Collaborative Manufacturing Partners
- Support process changes and specifications to ensure they meet UL requirements and product quality needs.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS YOU SHOULD HAVE
- University degree in general sciences or technical discipline is preferred in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Food Science or Microbiology
- Relevant experience in FMCG business experience in Quality, R&D or Manufacturing – experience in ‘Digitalization’ is a plus.
- Proven and recognized achievements in risk and change management.
