 CONSUMER TECHNICAL INSIGHT (CTI) RESEARCHER

TRAVEL REQUIRED:            10-20%

FULL-TIME/PART-TIME

Salary:  44-64 K gross depending on background and experience

MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

Unilever recognises Consumer Technical Insight (CTI) as an integral function partnering R&D Product and Packaging development. We deliver CONSUMER TECHNICAL INSIGHTs using qualitative, quantitative consumer and sensory research to drive the delivery of outstanding innovations and preferred products in the market place.

The main objective of the Global Knorr CTI role is to help, plan and manage CTI research within the global CTI Knorr programme and support the superior product designs in adherence to best practices, IPM, Unilever policies and Code of Business Principles. This role presents an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting Global R&D through identifying opportunities to better meet consumer needs and drive profitable growth for Unilever’s Nutrition business. JOB SUMMARY

Consumer & Product Insights for innovation and renovation projects for Knorr, including:

  • Review historical market, consumer and sensory data to identify opportunities for superior products and claims, and providing R&D with clear guidance on how to deliver these.
  • Identify what consumer research is needed to deliver project objectives, develop the research brief, ensure execution according to best practice guidelines, and draw out clear and actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Developing work which is fact-based rather than fact-filled, focusing on story-telling, recommendations and outcomes.
  • Running hypothesis and scenarios in autonomous way, by using data and data analytics, to guide the R&D team in development of the best formulations.
  • Working collaboratively across CTI BG and BU, and partnering closely with CMI to develop integrated Consumer Insight plans.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate qualification in human or food sciences, and/ or experienced in a consumer or sensory insights role with at least 2 years of experience in FMCG
  • Working knowledge of consumer and / or sensory research approaches, and ability to work independently and strong planning skills.
  • Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams in the development of high impact innovative propositions in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Fluent English, second language is a plus
  • Solid communi­cation skills, with ex­perience presenting to all levels of clients and co-workers with very good communication and influencing skills
  • Passionate about food and ambitious to deliver the best quality whilst being a team player
  • Fully operational in MS office
  • Excellent facilitation and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong internal/external network builder.
  • Self-motivated and keen to help drive change in an organization.
  • Experience in claims, demos and storytelling and/or strong interest to develop this skill
  • Creative thinking to support the development of new ideas with volition and willingness to change.
