This is a full-time research position in which you will work with patient-derived organoids. The aim of the project is to identify drug targets to rescue rare pediatric Kidney Diseases.
The first 3 years are funded by the Dutch Kidney foundation. Salary, pension and terms of employment are in accordance with the CAO of UMC Utrecht. The project starts between April-June 2024. Your application should include a motivation letter, a CV, and the contact details of two referees.

The Nephrology & Hypertension department is part of the Internal Medicine and Dermatology Division with approximately one thousand employees. The division focuses on care, research, education and training.
The specialty of nephrology is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of (chronic) Kidney Diseases. The department consists of an outpatient clinic, a day treatment department, a dialysis department, a nursing department and a research laboratory.
Our team consists of staff doctors, dialysis nurses, AIOS, nurse specialists, a physician assistant, transplant nurses, social workers, dieticians, medical secretaries, management assistants and researchers.

We are looking for a talented and highly motivated PhD student with good communication skills in English. The applicant must have a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biology, Biochemistry or equivalent.
Preferably, you have hands-on experimental skills and experience with genetics, cell culture, microscopy and multi-omics data analysis. Experience in the field of nephrology would be an advantage.
