Own the project control activity globally and drive consistent functional specifications and common global processes for projects implementation. Activities that are conducted to better understand or ultimately meet the expectations of the customer Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.
Job Description
On his / her scope, he/she will coordinate and manage the global time schedule of engineering activities, follow-up engineering budgets, define the project design quality plan, ensure implementation of Engineering Management Handbook ‘EMH’ guidelines, supervise overall technical coordination between different work packages of Grid Complex large project.
Key missions of the Project Engineering Manager for engineering activities under his/her responsibility:
Project management
Scope of work & time schedule
Responsible for issuing consolidation of provisional drawing list of the project or of his/her work package, integrating submission dates
Manage global time schedule of concerned engineering activities, secure interfaces between engineering activities and other project functions activities and other stakeholders
He/she is responsible of relevant co-engineering sessions with other disciplines, main partners or key suppliers if & when appropriate and of work package design reviews
Resources
Lead & coordinate design teams
Manage design workload plan and request resource arbitration
Customer Management
Ensure compliance to Customer requirements
Represents customer interests in the design decisions
Design expediting
Prepare or review technical specifications and supplier’s documents to enable procurement of materials and plant detailed design
Check effectiveness of design against delivery of contract requirements within project budget and look for global cost optimization in all design phase and mainly during basic design
Get or give support to ensure compliance to technical "state of the art" and applicable standards & regulations
Process & Tools
Deploy Engineering tools associated to his/her work package (CAD, PDM/DMS,) as per strategy
Integrate EHS requirements based on project Strategy, and deploy HAZID (Hazard identification) sessions at different project phases
Implement Key Indicators on engineering process and provide support to elaborate project reporting
Quality
Comply with Quality Procedures, work instructions and Processes defined at Unit, project level, and in Engineering instructions
Report or resolve any non-conformances and process in a timely manner
Health and Safety
Implement design freeze and EHS in design
Demonstrate EHS leadership and ensure Zero Deviation Plan is implemented within the team
Sets the example by demonstrating the proper acts and actively observes work conditions and behaviors, giving constructive feedback and celebrating EHS effective prevention.
Desired Profile and Experience
BSc or MSc in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
In depth experience in industry including HVDC station equipment and design
Experience in Project Management delivery
Successful experience in management of multi-disciplinary teams with multiple interfaces and with products coming from several countries
Fluent in English , speaking German would be an advantage
Strong influencing and relationship building skills
Strong technical problem-solving skills & experience
Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to succinctly communicate complex messages
Demonstrates ownership & accountability, judgment and decision making, influences & inspires team, creates a vision and strategy, and has passion for the role
