Job Purpose and Impact

Cargill Aqua Nutrition (CQN) is a Cargill subsidiary, making feed around the world for aquaculture farmers.  We are enhancing our capabilities to contribute to Cargill’s sustainability commitments and to support our customers with their sustainability goals.  Key areas of action include climate change, sustainable use of marine ingredients, environmental impacts on land & water and people (farmer livelihoods and human rights).  The Cargill Aqua Nutrition (CQN) Sustainability Specialist will lead the development and execution of strategic sustainability initiatives with businesses, customers and other external stakeholders that drive progress in key environmental and social impact areas while delivering value to customers and commercial teams. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead Sustainability reporting for CQN, closely aligned with Cargill’s Corporate ESG report
  • Form sustainability strategy, policy and action plans for major supply chains or for the assigned sustainability topic areas 
  • Advance Cargill and CQN’s sustainability commitments, driving execution by working with and through colleagues in other business functions 
  • Build partnerships and relationships across Cargill and to provide input to developing practices and policies, support the execution of sustainability initiatives, and leverage network of peers for best practice sharing
  • Identify and work with external partners like trade associations, non-governmental organizations, foundations, universities and government offices on key sustainability initiatives
  • Interact with customers directly and indirectly to ascertain their sustainability-related needs and partner with commercial teams in developing and delivering solutions to those needs to ultimately drive business growth 
  • Interact with suppliers directly and indirectly to work with them on programs to deliver. This includes but is not limited to communicating sustainability policies and objectives to suppliers, including farmers, with the purpose of extending our supply chain policies and requirements through our suppliers 
  • Develop, maintain and apply industry leading expertise in sustainability as it applies to the relevant supply chains, sustainability topic are or geographies
  • Work with limited direction using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. You may provide direction to additional team members and be a strategic contributor
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience
  • Other minimum qualifications may apply

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree focused on Aquaculture, Animal Nutrition, Sustainability, Biology or related field
  • Minimum of six years of related work experience
  • Technical knowledge in environmental, economic and social benefits and challenges in aquaculture
  • Fluent in (verbal and written) English
  • Experience leading sustainability initiatives in Aquaculture space, including climate change, human rights and marine ingredients
  • Experience with external and customer-focused sustainability reporting
