In Insurance & Risk Management (IRM) we focus on being trusted advisors by connecting with business colleagues and understanding their needs. We manage and mitigate risk and deliver quality insurance products and services to protect the company’s employees, assets and liabilities and to meet its contractual obligations to customers across the group. As our business keeps growing, we want you in our EMEA region. 

This position could be based anywhere in EMEA region, preferably Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark or Spain. 

  

Job Purpose:

As the Regional Head of Claims for Mainland Europe, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the IRM claims handling service offering in the region. Your primary responsibilities include managing the operating budget, staff, business partners, and providing strategic leadership for continuous improvement. You will handle escalated claims, contribute to global claims strategy, identify market share opportunities, and ensure seamless IRM service delivery through collaboration with various functional areas. This role requires a strategic mindset, leadership skills, and expertise in corporate claims management.

  

Your tasks:

  • Claims Management Oversight: Lead and oversee the IRM claims handling service offering in Mainland Europe, including budget management, staff supervision, and business partner relationships.
  • Business Process Optimization: Drive continuous improvement and optimization initiatives, collaborating with BU operating divisions and exploring digitalization opportunities.
  • Escalated Claims Handling: Manage escalated claims by liaising with stakeholders such as BU management, lawyers, loss adjusters, and insurance underwriting functions.
  • Global Strategy Contribution: Contribute to the establishment of the global claims function strategy through participation in the IRM Global Claims Steering Group.
  • Market Share Opportunities: Identify and execute opportunities for expanding market share, conducting feasibility studies, and implementing plans.
  • Management Reporting: Oversee the preparation of monthly management reports, including setting and monitoring KPIs.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, direct, develop, and motivate claims staff in the region, fostering a culture of quality, service excellence, and cost consciousness.
  • Training Programs: Develop and deploy region-wide training programs on BU awareness to optimize functional performance through early engagement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise with other IRM functional areas (Insurance, Contract Risk Management) to ensure seamless service delivery to BU's.
  

Your profile:

  • Strong background in corporate claims management with experience in remodeling claims functions.
  • 10+ years in insurance claims management, underwriting, or risk management.
  • 8 + years in logistics industry or legal practice as a legal counsel
  • 5+ years’ experience in a regional role
  • Law Degree or Logistics and Supply Chain Degree.
  • Associate or Certified Insurance Practitioner (ACII and/or ANZIIF).
  • Proficient in Business Process Optimization (BPO).
  • Good organizational skills
  • Strong leadership skills, resourceful, and persuasive.
  • Good business acumen and cross-border thinking.
