This position represents an opportunity to join a fast growing segment within Citi’s Commercial Bank (CCB). CCB is building a client franchise with Healthcare clients, focused on Biotech, Medtech and Life Sciences. We are looking to act as international treasury bank and providing capital to successful, mid-sized, fast growing and internationally operating healthcare companies. The Nordics, Benelux and Switzerland hold many promising companies. We are looking for a banker to unlock this potential for CCB. The Relationship Manager will be responsible for business development through new client acquisitions, as well as the cross-selling of Citi’s global platform. Candidate will draw upon his or her broad healthcare industry knowledge to develop prospect lists within the designated target market. As a Senior Relationship Manager, you will serve as the liaison between the client and the various product partners (cash management, FX) to provide financial solutions. You will also partner with the Investment Bank and Capital Markets team to provide capital markets access, strategic advice and thought leadership. Given the global nature of Citi’s client base, you will collaborate with Citi colleagues across the globe to deliver local insights and banking solutions. Well-rounded banker skills, solid understanding of Healthcare industry dynamics and proven track record in acquiring clients are key to success. The banker can be based in Amsterdam, Copenhagen or Stockholm.
Responsibilities:
Serve as trusted advisor to CEOs and CFOs by providing creative financial solutions and superior execution across the Citi platform.
Actively build a pipeline of new client acquisitions and cross-sell opportunities for existing clients.
Maintain frequent interaction with centers of influence (both external and internal) and industry trade associations.
Develop and execute both short- and long-term plans to differentiate Citibank from other, entrenched competitors allowing the bank higher share of wallet and relationship profitability.
Partner with product specialists to develop a thoughtful relationship plan for each client and prospect that focuses on both lending and non-lending business opportunities across the Citi platform.
Partner with other Citi businesses, including Investment Banking and Capital Markets, to ensure support to overall client and franchise objectives.
Serve as advisor to underwriting team on credit transactions while keeping current on industry risks, trends and regulatory updates across the healthcare sector.
Closely monitor clients to both identify business opportunities and anticipate potential risks. Proactively take action on possible risk issues and concerns.
Demonstrate strong and visible leadership and foster positive attitudes and trust among clients, prospects, and employees.
This position requires moderate to extensive travel across the countries mentioned.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience
Extensive experience covering the Healthcare industry. Ideally some experience across each key subsector (Pharma, Biotech, Medical Technology and Medical Services), but knowledge of one or more will be considered
Good knowledge of banking products and process as well as a track record of providing sound banking and financial advice and solutions to clients
Experience with leveraged finance / private equity is a strong plus but not essential
Proven business development / client acquisition track record and a hunger to grow the business with the backing and infrastructure of a world class organisation
Demonstrates intermediate to advanced credit skills; structures more complex deals, including global transactions
Capable of structuring credit deals and guiding staff through the credit deal approval process
Demonstrates a strong level of Early Warning Detection skills
Ability to work effectively in team setting
Ability to coordinate multi-functional teams to provide an exceptional client experience
Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills (e.g. negotiation, consultative skills, leadership)
Ability to work under pressure while making sound decisions
Highly focused, able to rapidly identify key priorities, clearly communicate the priorities
Accountable for significant direct business results or authoritative advice regarding the operations of the business
A proactive approach in looking for ways in strengthening business relationship with clients, delivers a simple, secure and seamless client experience
Ability to embrace new technology and understand the role digital plays in the experience we deliver for our clients
Able to quickly adapt priorities based on the latest data insights
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Masters degree preferred
