This is the role

As the Senior Manager Sustainability Digital Enablement at LyondellBasell, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the company's sustainability agenda. This position entails leading the IT Product Team, which focuses on areas such as carbon management, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), climate risk modeling, and sustainable supply chain management. Reporting to the Director of Sustainability and Circularity, this senior-level role demands a profound understanding of how to integrate business processes and technologies to align IT solutions with the company’s business objectives.
In this role, you will be responsible for defining, developing, and managing IT products, ensuring they fit into the organization’s strategic vision, especially in relation to sustainability. You will spearhead global digital initiatives and long-term plans, focusing primarily on the company’s growing sustainability efforts. Collaboration with enterprise architecture, data and analytics, IT procurement, and other relevant IT teams will be crucial to support sustainability processes and a broader set of use cases that propel the company’s sustainability agenda.
Your role as a business-savvy IT professional involves liaising with functional leaders to optimize the value of IT products throughout their lifecycle. Managing both internal and external resources, you will drive strategic objectives and adapt to technology trends to maximize corporate benefits. This position requires strong influencing skills to challenge the status quo, replace legacy applications, and communicate transition strategies effectively for positive change.
Leading a large growing team, you will be responsible for their growth and development as LyondellBasell's sustainability processes evolve. Additionally, as this is a nascent and growing team, it is expected for you to also roll up your sleeves and be hands-on as needed. Your ability to balance strategic leadership with direct involvement in projects will be key to the success of the team and the company’s sustainability initiatives.

Roles & Responsibilities

Strategic Product Strategy and Roadmap Development: As a senior leader, you will be tasked with crafting and owning the overarching product strategy and roadmaps. This involves a deep dive into sustainability aspects like Carbon Management, Product Stewardship, Climate Risk, and Supply Chain. Your role will be to align these elements cohesively with LyondellBasell’s strategic objectives, ensuring they not only support but also enhance the company’s sustainability vision.
Leadership of Global IT Team: You will lead a global team of IT professionals, comprising both functional and technical analysts. Your responsibility will include guiding this team in delivering cloud-based, data-centric solutions that meet the company’s sustainability goals. This involves setting clear objectives, providing strategic direction, and ensuring the team has the resources and skills necessary to achieve these goals.
Collaboration with other Product Managers: In this senior position, you will work closely with the Product Manager responsible for ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and Circularity. This collaboration is essential to ensure a unified and integrated approach to the company’s sustainability efforts. You will be the linchpin in aligning various sustainability initiatives, creating a cohesive strategy across different departments.
Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership: You will engage and partner with key stakeholders across various business groups, such as Corporate Sustainability, Net Zero initiatives, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Enterprise Risk Management, Supply Chain, and Research & Development. This role requires not just engaging these groups but also influencing and integrating their input into the sustainability strategy.
Budget Management and Accountability: Managing and being accountable for the budget of your assigned stream is a critical responsibility. You will oversee budget allocation, ensure optimal resource utilization, and align spending with both short-term and long-term strategic goals.
Business Case Development and ROI Analysis: Developing comprehensive business cases for sustainability initiatives, tracking their benefits, and assessing their return on investment (ROI) will be key. This involves not just financial acumen but also the ability to forecast and measure the impact of these initiatives on the company’s sustainability objectives.
Cultivating a Progressive Team Culture: As a senior leader, fostering a culture of innovation, safety, teamwork, and excellence within your team will be paramount. This involves mentoring team members, encouraging innovative thinking, ensuring adherence to safety standards, promoting collaborative efforts, and driving excellence in all endeavors.
 

This is who you are

The ideal candidate for this role should demonstrate strong leadership skills, including the ability to manage international teams, and possess a track record of effective team management. Technical proficiency is key, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office, Agile methodologies, and data science and visualization tools being critical for job performance. Industry experience in the chemical or energy sectors, as well as familiarity with Cloud architecture, Data Management, or Data Governance, is highly beneficial. The role requires strategic and analytical thinking capabilities for problem-solving and business analysis, using data and metrics to make informed decisions and improve customer and user experiences. Outstanding communication skills are essential for effective collaboration across teams and with senior executives. A high level of curiosity, enthusiasm, and a history of creative problem-solving are necessary for engaging with business partners and influencing in a complex organization. The candidate should be competent in managing multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment, with an emphasis on innovation. Business acumen, including the ability to develop and track business cases and key metrics, is crucial. Additional expertise in manufacturing, data governance, and supply chain management is an asset. The candidate should also possess excellent interpersonal skills to articulate ideas effectively to diverse audiences, a strong service orientation, and the ability to foster a collaborative work environment. Lastly, comfort with performing under pressure in a dynamic setting is essential.

This is what you bring

Educational Background: Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer  Science, Sustainability Management, or a related technical field is essential. Preference will be given to candidates with a Master's degree in these or related areas.
Professional Experience: At least 10 years of proven experience in areas such as software development, product management, IT/sustainability consulting, or business analysis, with a strong focus on technology-driven roles.
