The Microsoft Customer Experience & Success (CE&S) organization is responsible for the strategy, design, and implementation of Microsoft’s end-to-end customer experience. As a Cloud Solution Architect, you will enable customers to achieve their outcomes, based on their investments in Microsoft technology. Leveraging your Microsoft Azure technical subject matter expertise, you will lead technical conversations with customers and Microsoft colleagues, to drive value from their MS investments. This includes accelerating customer adoption by building solutions and identifying resolutions to issues impeding customer success projects. You will also drive product influence with Engineering and increase technical intensity in the field. This role is flexible in that you can work up to 100% from home. This role can be completed from any of Microsoft's western european locations.

Responsibilities

• Accelerate customer engagements from Proof of Concept to Production for Azure Analytics Workloads

• Expand and grow Azure Data Services for existing/new customer base

• Provide customers with Analytics expertise and advisory through architecture designs, proof of concepts, and production reviews

• Lead and provide guidance in technical escalations to unblock customers in collaboration with multiple stakeholders

• Provide expert perspective to key stakeholders to increase platform adoption through customer insights & feedback

• Drive product improvement and influence roadmap with Engineering through deep technical insights

• Increase Data and AI technical intensity in the Field through upskilling, sharing best practices and scaling repeatable IP

• Technical Program Management experience is highly preferred

• "Hands on" experience creating Proof of Concepts, and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) leading to production deployments

• The technical aptitude and experience to learn new technologies and understand market and relevant cloud trends

• Understand customers’ overall data estate Business and IT priorities and success measures to design Data & Analytics solutions that drive business value.

• Customer Satisfaction - Drive positive Customer Satisfaction & become a trusted advisor.

• Ensure that solution exhibits high levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, repeatability, appropriate reusability, and reliability upon deployment.

• Customer/Partner Insights - Provide feedback & insights from customers/partners.

Business Impact

• Consumption (Cloud & Support) growth - Develop opportunities to drive Customer Success business results & help Customers get value from their Microsoft investments.

• Resolution of Customer Blockers - Identify resolutions to Customer blockers by leveraging subject matter expertise. Deliver according to MS best practices & using repeatable Intellectual Property (IP)

• Apply technical knowledge to architect and design solutions that meet business and IT needs, create Data & Analytics roadmaps, drive POCs and MVPs, and ensure long term technical viability of new deployments, infusing key AI technologies where appropriate.

Technical Leadership

• Be the Voice of Customer to share insights and best practices, connect with Engineering team to remove key blockers and drive product improvements.

• Learn It All - Maintain technical skills and knowledge, keeping up to date with market trends and competitive insights; collaborate and share with the AI technical community while educating customers on Azure platform.

• Accelerate customer outcomes - Share expertise, contribute to IP creation & re-use to accelerate customer outcomes.

• Broad knowledge of Azure Data & AI (Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, SQL, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Bricks, HDInsight).

• Drive delivery teams for attending to customer expectation about providing workaround and help customers solve their technical issues as quickly as possible.

• Effectively orchestrate and bridge the delivery through cross-functional teams, providing operational guidance to the delivery teams.

Other Professional Experience: 

• Ability to orchestrate, lead, and influence virtual teams, ensuring successful acceleration and unfreezing of customer projects.

• Collaboration and Communication: Acknowledged for driving decisions collaboratively, ability to communicate Analytics and AI concepts effectively with business and technical audiences, resolving conflicts and ensuring follow through with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Relationship Building: Proven track record of building deep technical relationships with key stakeholders. The ability to influence and build relationships across technical and business teams.

• Good business acumen to quickly understand the customer’s industry and business to have relevant discussions with business decision makers.

• Good understanding of key Data and AI scenarios that are driving innovation in key industries such as financial services, Retail, Healthcare etc.

• Problem Solving: Ability to solve customer’s Data problems through various cloud technologies.

• Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences (Senior Executives, IT Management, Architects, Engineers)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field AND considerable experience in cloud/infrastructure technologies, information technology (IT) consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

o Business Value: The ability to convey the business need and value of proposed solutions, plans, and risks to stakeholders and decision makers. This includes the ability to persuade and inform based on facts and alignment with goals and strategy.

o Trusted Advisership: The ability to build trusted advisor status and deep relationships across stakeholders (e.g., technical decision makers, business decision makers) through an understanding of customer needs and technologies.

o Situational fluency: Using self-awareness as a mechanism to interpret verbal and non-verbal cues to increase your ability to "read the room."

o Insightful listening: asking insightful questions to understand the customer needs, issues, business environment and drivers, and going beyond what customer has said.

o Technical

o Breadth of technical experience and knowledge in foundational security, foundational AI, architecture design, with depth / Subject Matter Expertise (5+ years experience) in one or more of the following technologies where you can design and support technologies:

o Azure Data Factory

o Azure Data Lake

o Azure Data Explorer

o Azure PowerBI

o Azure Synapse Analytics

o Azure Data Bricks

o CosmosDB

o Azure Stream Analytics

o Azure Machine Learning Service 

o Deep domain expertise in one of the Data-specific areas, such as Cloud Scale Analytics, deployments and migrations to the cloud, Data Governance, etc. OR hands-on experience working with the respective products at the expert level.

o Experience creating Data & Analytics Proof of Concepts (PoC), Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) for customers that lead to production deployments.

o Competitive Landscape: Knowledge of key Data & Analytics platforms such as AWS, GCP, Snowflake, etc.

o Software development practices like DevOps and CI/CD tool chains (i.e., Jenkins, Azure Developer Services, GitHub) and container orchestration systems (i.e., Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry, Azure Kubernetes Service, GitHub).
